Exams

Although there’s no pressure to go deeper into every subjects, but still you have to do the exams for all the subjects. Well no complaint about this. It’s just common thing. But what makes it uncommon here is that your mark only depends on one single exam! Now that’s unfair from my point of view.

In Indonesia, your mark, which defines whether you are passed or not, is consists of many things like exams, quizzes, assignments, and attendances. So students have more chances in shaping their mark. If they are failed in first exam or quiz or assignment, they still have next chance to do it better. Beside, many things can happen. You can get sick, accident, family problem, or even broken heart before the exam that make you can’t concentrate to it. And if you loose this chance, you are over. Of course there’ll be a time when you can retake it, but it won’t be the same. The mood is somehow has swift.

Another thing, by just depending in one exam the students tend to not care about the subject. All that matters to them are just passing the exam with a good grade but clueless in a discussion or presentation. The subject that has been taught will soon evaporate after the exam. Well at least, that’s how I feel.
